When it comes to strategy the player needs to remember that there is always a statistically “correct” way to play a hand. Every seasoned player has had an experience of someone acting on his or her gut to throw the whole shoe out of whack. Learn to Play Craps – Tips and Strategies – Craps Terms (Part 3)

In this article, we continue our lesson on learning the various craps terms. Picking up where we left off in Part 2, the following terms cover the letters E to J in alphabetical order. Craps terms beginning with other letters are defined in my other articles.
E.T. = A bet that the next roll will be an 11 or 12.
Easyway = The number 4, 6, 8, or 10 rolled where the dice have different numbers. For example, an Easy 8 is 6-2, 2-6, 5-3, and 3-5.
Eighter From Decatur = The number 8.
Eye In The Sky = The video cameras on the ceiling. Surveillance of the game.
Eyeballs = Two one’s. Snake eyes or aces.
Field = A bet that the next roll will be a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12. Sometimes the 5 is included and the 9 excluded.
Fifty-yard Line = The middle of the table.
Fill = When the casino’s bank (cheque stack) on the table is replenished.
Flat Bet = The even-money Pass Line or Don’t Pass bet.
Garden = The field.
George = A player who tips the dealers.
Green = $25 cheques.
Green Light = When the dealers have permission to hustle tips, or the pit crew isn’t watching so dealers can hustle tips.
Hand-in = A tip given directly to the dealers instead of being bet for them.
Hardway = A bet on the 4, 6, 8, or 10 that wins if the dice show identical numbers before a 7 or an Easyway. For example, a Hard 4 wins if the dice show 2-2.
Hedge = Making one bet to protect another bet.
Hi-Lo = A bet that the next roll will be a 2 or 12.
Hi-Lo-Yo = A bet that the next roll will be a 2, 12, or 11.
Hit A Brick = When a die hits a stack of chips and doesn’t hit the back wall.
Hook = Player positions at the table near the corner of each end.
Hop = A bet that the next roll will be a specific combination of numbers.
Horn = A bet that the next roll will be a 2, 3, 11, or 12.
Horn High = A Horn bet with equal amounts on three numbers and a greater amount on the fourth number. For example, a $5 Horn High Yo has $1 on the 2, 3, and 12; and $2 on the 11. A $10 Horn High Boxcars has $2 on the 2, 3, and 11; and $4 on the 12.
Hot Table = Shooters are making points and rolling lots of numbers.

Inside Numbers = The numbers 6 and 8; sometimes the numbers 5, 6, 8, and 9.
Insurance = Hedging one bet with another.
Jam Up = A game is slowed or interrupted because of sloppy dealing.
Jammer = A weak dealer who spills his stack of cheques or sloppily places player’s cheques.
Jesse James = The number 9. Jesse was shot by a .45. (The 4-5 dice combination is a 9.)
Juice = A vigorish.

If you want to win at craps you need to have a craps strategy that focuses on placing the bets with the greatest odds of success.
This is relatively simple, the house edge against you is relatively small when you apply a correct craps strategy to win.
Another advantage of playing craps is the excitement and entertainment value it gives you.
Let’s now look at how you can apply a craps strategy to win and also have some great fun.
Craps strategy – History of the game
The playing of dice for money or possessions goes back far into history. We hear of it firstly in the (Rig Veda X:34) Hymn 50.
This was written perhaps before 1500 B.C. and only then from an earlier ancient oral tradition. Today’s craps have their own rules and betting customs, but one can be sure, there is not that much difference.
Craps Strategy – The Odds
In today’s game, you can, if you follow the craps strategy below, bring the odds at least to even…or about so, and with some patience, a sizable stake, and knowledge, you can win with this craps strategy.
Unlike the unhappy king who lost a kingdom and in Hymn 50 advises tilling the land and leaving dice alone, we will show you how not to get burned, and have some fun.
Craps strategy – The basics
The craps table is oblong, and the shooters stand at one of the narrow ends, and throw the dice to the other side. The rules say that when you “come out” if you roll a 7 or 11, you win. If you roll a 2,3, or 12 you lose.
Any other number becomes your “point” and you throw until you hit that number, whereby you win, or a 7 whereby you lose.
Craps strategy – The odds
The secret for winning at craps is to have a craps strategy in your betting, and bring the odds as close to even as you can, where the house holds the lowest edge possible.
Let’s look at the best bets to incorporate in your craps strategy
On the table you will see a “pass” or “don’t pass” betting area. The pass line bet wins on an opening 7 or 11. The don’t pass line wins when the shooter throws a 2,3, or 12. This is known as “craps”.
There are many bets possible, but we will concentrate here on getting the odds in your favor. The bet is call Free Odds Bet and is the one your winning craps strategy should be based upon.
Free Odds Bet
This bet is available only after you put a bet on the pass line.
It’s called Free Odds because the house has no statistical advantage on the player in this bet. It must be remembered that if you MUST put a bet on the pass line, and so the house gets a small odds advantage there.
When the point is determined (the come out roll is not a 7 or 11, where you won anyway, or a 2,3, or 12 where you lost anyway), you can place a bet equal to your bet on the pass line. This bet reinforces your pass line bet.
This bet is safe, as if the point is “made” (the same number comes up once again before a 7), you will win on the pass line and the free odds line bet. It becomes slightly complicated here, as the point made will have it own odds based on the difficulty in achieving that number.
As points, 4 and 10 are the easiest, so they pay out 2 to 1. 5 and 9 are the next most difficult and the payout is set to 3 to 1. The hardest numbers to achieve are 6 and 8, so they pay out 6 to 5.
Craps strategy – The way to win is simple
Betting on the Free Odds bet will double your pay out should you win.
There are many more bets, but they will have greater odds against you, and your chances of winning are reduced.
The Free Odds will keep you playing for hours and can get you an edge to win and is the basis of any craps strategy to win and make money at this fun and exciting game.

Be smart, play smart, and learn how to play craps the right way!
Over your craps-playing life, you’ll likely have more losing sessions than winners. Accept it. You must learn to play in reality, not fantasyland. Craps is designed for the player to lose.
Suppose, after two hours, the dice have whittled your chip stack down to $20. You haven’t seen a hot roll in ages. Although losing is as much a part of the game as winning, you can’t help but feel lousy. You wonder why you even bothered coming to Vegas in the first place. You were a rock for two hours, but it didn’t work. You want to win so badly that you lose control of your common sense. You’re down to your last $20 for the session and you have no fight left. Stop!
You must never capitulate, never surrender, never think, “This sucks, I’m going to put the rest on the Hard 4 and, if I lose, then I’ll leave. But if I win, I’ll be right back where I started.” That’s the dumbest thing you can do at the end of a losing session.
If you insist on giving your money away, please send it to your favorite charity. Don’t give it to the casino. Occasionally, you’ll win one of those idiotic bets, but don’t think you’ll win enough over time to conquer your losses.
If you can’t accept losing, you have no business gambling. If you can’t stomach losing a particular session, then quit that session and cash out. Don’t pee your money away on a terrible bet hoping to hit it big and get your money back all at once.
If it’s an awful session and you lose a lot quickly, then accept defeat and cash out with the $10, $15, or $20 that you have left. Take that remaining $20, go have a beer in the lounge, listen to the band. Put it in a nickel video poker machine and maybe hit a 1,000-coin jackpot for $50. Put it in your pocket, find your wife, and spend some time with her. Don’t relent. Do something besides pee your money away on a losing proposition bet. Don’t toss in the towel.
